After an epic extended weekend captured only on medium format film, I’ll be spending the rest of this week developing film and loading up the Canon A1 with Tri-X 400 in preparation for giving 35mm a go this weekend.
Yes, it is officially summer - you’ve been warned.

Revisiting film and family
It felt like an eternity since I’ve touched any of my cameras and film. Today, at about 4ish, I looked out and admired just how gorgeous the summer light was. With light like this, there’s no fucking way I’m going out without a camera in tow.
I spent this evening with family, the first time in what seemed to be an eternity (you see a pattern here?). It was a wonderful trio:...

Los Angeles, San Diego, and Tri-X
Stayed overnight in Los Angeles, and am now departing for San Diego. Brought with me only one film camera, my trusty Canon A1, loaded with rebranded Tri-X. The reason: the many times I’ve been in Southern California, I’ve never photographed the region with black and white film.
I know, I can’t believe it either. But, it’s true.

On ego and Facebook
Colleague: You should make a Facebook Fan Page of your photography.
Me: A few others have suggested that. But that seems so very egotistical...I don't feel comfortable with the very idea of it.
Colleague: Yve. It's what Facebook is all about. In fact, that's what promotion really is...EGO.
Me: Screw Facebook.
Colleague: Well, you gotta promote yourself somehow...what are you going to do? Post on Craigslist??
Me: No. I'd like to be big enough where SOMEONE ELSE creates a fan page of my work. *smile*
Colleague: Well, look who's being egotistical now. *smile*
Me: *pause* How about if you just shut your trap?
Colleague: *laughs*

6:30a, San Francisco International Airport.
I ordered a Bloody Mary at “the pub”, and the barkeep said, “Oh, a pro?”
I thought he was asking if I have a drinking problem.
The barkeep pointed to a group of suits seated nearby with their variety of alcoholic drinks.
“Oh, no, no. I don’t travel like they do. The bloody Mary is just a tradition prior to...

Typical IM conversation with Justin
me: this is me violating your e-personal space: poke
Justin: I love it when you violate my personal space :)
me: man, everyone says that, unfortunately
Justin: it's cause you're in demand
me: like pay per view? isn't that like a lady dancer from Amsterdam?
Justin: something exactly like that

iPhone vs. HTC Hero: A Comparison of Cameras
I currently use an HTC Hero as my personal phone, which I soon will replace with the Nexus One (which is also an HTC phone) once it’s released on Sprint’s 4G network. For work, I use the iPhone 3Gs, as it seems to be the standard in the art world (and it helps when the studio is affiliated with AT&T).
I can’t say that one is better than the other in terms of its camera...
